Jeff Hamachek is a professionally trained artist with a graphic arts degree from the Art Institute of Houston. He has been painting for over 20 years, but most recently has a focus on Island subject matter. Inspired by the Impressionist masters, Monet and Van Gogh, his preferred medium is oil on fine canvas with a contemporary but still impressionistic style. In his execution, the subject is quite premeditated, while the use of color is transitional as images evolve with light until the desired result come to life on canvas. Jeff’s paintings are heavily influenced by his love of Galveston Island. The beach, its people, the Islands history and pride, have all served as a source of meaningful and continuous inspiration for him.
